Ralph Rucci Chado (Haute Couture) - Fall/Winter 2004

We visited him in his showroom the day after his presentation at the Ritz Hotel, to talk about the clothes, and the special relationship between the couturier and his clients.

Chado Ralph Rucci - Spring/Summer 2004
Unlike many other designers, Philadelphia native Ralph Rucci doesn’t get excited about trends, celebrity or being in the limelight – his obsessions are quality, cut and craftsmanship. His latest ready-to-wear collection features an attention to detail so great, it might as well be haute couture.

Don't feel like a fashion know-nothing if you aren't familiar with the name Ralph Rucci. Although he's been part of the fashion world for twenty-three years, he purposely keeps a low profile. He launched his label Chado, named after an ancient Japanese tea ceremony, in 1994. Earlier this year, his persistence began to pay off, when he became the first American designer to be invited by the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne to show at the haute couture collections in Paris in over fifty years. Click and see what all the fuss is about.
