Whether it be Forties pin up or Eighties pop rock, count on Andy Thê-Anh to meld glam with the glamorous. On the landscape for spring/summer 2007: a tough but demure blend of soothing whites and vivid brights in a sumptuous array of fabrics.

When it comes to fashion, the arena belonging to the highly polished business woman and the bedraggled rock star are clearly defined, but in the world of Andy The-Anh, the term, “never the twain shall meet” just doesn’t apply. For Fall 2006, The-Anh showcased that fast and loose rock star attitude in the form of slim pantsuits, oversized fur accents and superskinny trousers in a host of rich neutrals, playing up that curious hybrid known as the “glam rock businesswoman” to surprisingly wearable results.

Every fashion week has its stars and runner-ups. Under the careful eye of cameras, editors and buyers the collections are rated and slotted into a hierarchy. For Toronto’s contribution to Fall/Winter 2005 the top spot went to Pow by Andy Thê-Anh, recognized for a well-produced show and an on-trend collection that referenced Tolstoy’s epic War And Peace.

The theme of the Andy Thê-Anh’s show was «The Silk Road», the vital economic artery built by the Romans in 138 B.C. To present this theme, Thê-Anh visits three locations with his collection, starting with India, then on to Turkey and finally China.
